Hi folks! After a brief break and a productive visioning session, the Hot Times Collective is back in action just in time for summer. Join us to help plot our spring and summer events and hear about some of the changes we’ve made over the winter.
If you’d like to contribute to the conversation but can’t make it, feel free to send an email for an anonymous reading and response.
Hot Times Collective Organizer Meetings are open to all who care to attend, and are held roughly every two weeks in Halifax Nova Scotia.
If you are not all ready a HTC member, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get the meeting location.
Please keep in mind that these meetings are confidential–do not discuss the agenda or the attendees.

THIS IS NOT A HOT TIMES SPONSORED EVENT
From the organizers:
Lets get together on the last warm night of the summer for a little kink and sexy play under the stars!
Bring your kit to York Redoubt and enjoy some funky tie-off points in the bunkers or maybe a little military role play.
Queer, trans and TNG friendly.
Things to keep in mind:
-SAFETY. This event is basically unmonitored. There is no official DM, there is no First Aid Kit, there is no dungeon safety kit. This means no scissors/knife for rope, no nothing. You are responsible for your own safety. Plan accordingly.
-Weather. Dress for it, and bring things to keep you warm and dry; August can cool off quick and we’ll be by the ocean.
-Darkness. Bring headlights, flashlights, lamps. Candles aren’t a great idea.
-Transportation. The last bus (15 Purcell’s Cove) to York Redoubt arrives at the park at 8 PM, the next does not arrive til 6 AM the next day, but it does have a bike rack. It’s about 10 k from the Halifax Shopping Centre. A lot of cars in the parking lot will attract a lot of attention, and that’s not what we’re going for, so get there and home under your own power/carpool if you can.
-Legality. The park is going to be closed. According to Parks Canada, it’s legal for pedestrians to access the site at any time.

From all the organizers at the Hot Times Collective, we wanted to thank everyone who came out and warmed up a chilly February night. It was a small but feisty party, and something we can’t wait to do again!
If you attended (or didn’t) and want to leave some feedback, feel free to email us at email@example.com. As always, we keep everything confidential.
In addition to our Wax Demo, there will be a Boot-Blacking Demo and Discussion at The Switch & The Spur.
Thanks for all your enthusiasm, we’ll see you all tomorrow night!
Today is our Switch & Spur volunteer orientation. If you’re interested in volunteering, please drop by 2683 Fern Lane (Home of the Society of Bastet) at 5:30 PM. If you’re unable to make the orientation, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be glad to do either a phone orientation or one by email.
Hot Times survey
We’re conducting an informal, confidential survey to help us plan future Hot Times events. It will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Please take the survey to help us make more and better Hot Times in Halifax!
Sunday February 17, 5:30 PM
2683 Fern Lane (Home of the Society of Bastet)
To volunteer, please email email@example.com , talk to an organizer or come to the orientation. Volunteers who haven’t volunteered with us before will receive a $10 refund on their entry after their shift has been completed.
Shifts are 1.5 hours, while the event runs for six. Volunteering entitles you to a refund of a portion of your entry fee, an invite to any private events the group holds, and the eternal gratitude of Hot Times.
Volunteer roles include:
Door person: Take money and check ID! Those are the basics. You’re going to be the first face our attendees see.
Tours: Guiding new-comers and old pros around the space when they arrive, showing off the facilities and creating excitement for events that happen throughout the evening. Great for outgoing folks.
Rule reader: You read the rules to EVERYONE who enters and make sure they are understood.
Reading Nook: Do you love to read? We will have a lovely selection of erotica for you to choose from! Keep an eye on the books, and maybe do a little reading out loud. A good job for first-timers.
Game leader: Great for your chatty types. Lead icebreaker games and get people feeling comfy.
Floater: Want to get a little taste of everything? You’ll be assisting volunteers and organizers doing whatever needs to be done and filling in for volunteers who miss their shift.
Flogging Room Monitor: We are also looking for people experienced with impact play to volunteer in the Flogging Room, guiding folks new to BDSM around the implements and making sure everyone, old and new alike, plays safely.
New volunteers must buy a ticket to S&S and will have it partially refunded after the completion of the shift. You should report to the front room 15 minutes before the start of your shift to receive training.
The Hot Times Collective will have volunteer T-Team members available to all attendees throughout the night of the bathhouse. What this means is there will be people who will be available to listen to people who are triggered or just need someone to talk to if they are not in a great headspace. What we can offer is active listening, resources and information on a variety of community organizations that also offer support.
Valentine’s Day will be over, put away the sweets and get spicy at the first Hot Times event of 2013!
Join us on February 22 for a play party at the Society of Bastet’s play space at 2683 Fern Lane, easily reachable off Robie St. by transit. The space features an impact play room fully stocked with evil implements, as well as medical play and nursery theme rooms. Bring your leather, your lace, and all of your favourite playthings for a night of queer kink.
See the details here, and don’t forget to review our rules and the rules for the space. See you soon!
